After a strong showing at the opening round of the British National Downhill Series, Trail Riders IRL Racing trio of Oisin O’Callaghan, Ronan Gahan and Liam Wolfe aim high for round two.
Moving on from the series opener in Wales, the HSBC UK National Downhill Series head for the iconic Fort William in Scotland this weekend.
A long time stable on the world circuit, Fort William is the mecca of British DH. Taking on the challenge, Trail Riders IRL Racing will go head-to-head against Britain’s best.
Good weekend at first British national at Cwmcarn. Last time out in Cwmcarn, Oisin O’Callaghan was quick to put his name among the best of Britain’s Youth.
Among a field of 41 riders, O’Callaghan charged his way down the mountain for 12th.
Missing out on a top 10 result by less than two seconds, he’s hoping to crack that milestone in Fort William on Sunday.
Competing in the hugely competitive Junior Men category, a holding pen for Britain’s future world stars, Gahan and Wolfe easily held their own in a class of 39 riders.
Getting the better of his teammate, Gahan put in a stormer of a rider to come home 17th. Ending his run just three seconds shy of the top 10 shows how competitive the class is.
For Wolfe, round one was a solid performance placing five seconds behind Gahan in 23rd and he will now target a top 20 place in Scotland.
Round two of the 2018 HSBC UK | National Downhill Series takes place in Fort William, Scotland on May 12/13.
Good luck lads, keep it pinned and shiny side up…
