It’s game on as the Gravity Enduro Ireland Series heads to Three Rock Mountain in Dublin this weekend.
And after a cracking round two at Mt Leinster, the racing looks as competitive as ever as the fight for top step of the podium ramps up.
In Mt Leinster the battle for victory was fierce between Kelan Grant and Killian Callaghan. Runner-up to cousin Greg at round one, Killian was charging at round two only to have Kelan snatch it away on the final stretch.
However, with Killian Europe-bound and Kelan injured, the door for a new winner to emerge from is wide open.
Looking favourite to taste victory, Mech Monkey’s Drew Armstrong was on song last time out.
Despite riding as a Junior he still knocked out an overall stage win, while going on to place as third fastest outright. On Sunday he could be the man to beat.
But the Junior lads are a competitive bunch in 2018 and with three riders filling out the top five in Mt Leinster, Armstrong may not have things his own way — especially with a lot of top local talent calling Three Rock their local.
Elsewhere, the battle in the Women’s category rages on. With a win apiece, Michelle Muldoon and Meave Baxter have proved the riders to beat. A win by either rider will put them ahead in the series.
Three Rock primed and ready
With trails primed, Dublin’s Three Rock Mountain awaits riders for the Vitus Bikes Gravity Enduro Ireland Series Championships.
For most riders this is just like any other Gravity Enduro race, but for some it’s also an opportunity to test their form ahead of the Cycling Ireland National Championship in August.
Ticknock is located just 20 minutes from the city centre and boasts spectacular views of Dublin Bay and beyond.
There are five special stages, some wide open and fast, some technical and steep in the woods.
The terrain is a mixture of granite rock, silt, soil and roots. Throw the odd short climb into the mix and the Three Rock route is a real test of all round ability.
Prime would be an understatement for the trails for this weekend's Gravity Enduro Ireland Series Champs. Entries close…
