Top Irish MTB teen talent Oisin O’Callaghan takes to the start line of this weekend’s Crankworx Downhill race in Innsbruck, Austria with hopes of a repeat podium result on his mind.
The Limerick lad delivered a stellar ride in 2018, carding second overall in the Youth class at France’s Let Gets. Now, 12 months on, he’ll be giving it everything he’s got to repeat that success.
Despite picking up an injury earlier this year, Oisin enters Innsbruck off the back of a terrific runner-up result at the Scottish round of the British Downhill Championship at Fort William.
The Trek rider performed well to place second despite the difficult conditions of start delays, gusty winds and no seeding run, tells his father Chris.
Now, adding in his podium result achieved at the Portuguese Championships earlier this year, ensures the recently turned 16-year-old is firing on all cylinder and will no doubt be a rider to watch for this weekend.
Then it’s back home quicker than his race run to finish off his Junior Cert!
Best of luck Oisin, giver all ye got!
