Jacob Dickson signed off on his 2018 Downhill season in style by taking victory in the Asia Greenland Downhill Series in China.
Poster boy for the event, Dickson didn’t disappoint and laid down the winning run in style to narrowly beat Aussie Mick Hannah to the top step of the podium.
The Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider traveled to China over the weekend to compete in the AGDR Asia Greenland Downhill and the Irish National DH champion came away with the win on his Glory Advanced team bike.
The event was held in the coastal hills of Zhongshan, near the mouth of the Pearl River in southern China.
With a vertical drop of 240 meters and a length of 1.6 kilometres, the recently built track challenged riders with technical rock sections, berms and tacky red clay dirt. The park is one of two lift-access bike parks in China.

“The week here in China was an experience I will never forget,” said Dickson after taking a close win over Australian DH pro Mick Hannah. “From the people to the track, which was really well built.”
The two-day event consisted of a qualifier on Saturday and final run on Sunday. Hannah posted the top qualifier time, followed by Dickson and fellow Giant rider Dan Chiang from Taiwan.
Sunday’s final saw light rain and Dickson put in a nearly flawless run to turn the tables and earn the win.
“In the finals it rained for both me and Mick, but I managed to get the win by less than half a second,” said Dickson. “I’m really happy and was glad to be part of this race.”
