It’s been a big year for Expert Cycles’ Harry Byrne with the 18-year-old winning the 2019 Gravity Enduro Ireland Series for the first time.
Moving up to Pro Men this season, Byrne relished the opportunity to prove himself as one of Ireland’s leading mountain bike riders.
Following a strong off-season of training in XC, he was quick to establish himself among some of the world’s best riders by ending round one at Ballinastoe in fourth.
Second and third at the following two rounds, he positioned himself as champion elect with a confidence-boosting win at Cahir.
Knowing a debut title was within his grasp, Harry put in a championship-winning ride for fourth at the season ending Carrick to sign off as the newly crowned champ.
Along with the Gravity Enduro crown, Byrne also came to the fore across the water in Scotland’s Tweedlove Enduro, winning the Under 21 category in one of the UK’s most-prestigious events.
Factor in that his success also came while juggling the stress and studies of his Leaving Cert at school, indicates Harry is certainly a rider on the rise.
Set to close out 2019 with a ride at the Enduro World Series finale in Switzerland, the Yeti-mounted rider is now targeting a full run in 2020.
