Round one of the new The Gap Downhill Mini Series got off to a flying start with over 80 riders lining up for Sunday afternoon’s racing.

Laying down the bench marker, Ronan Dunne proved the rider to beat on the day.
Blitzing the course and pulling some bold lines, he stopped the clocks six seconds up on his brother Anthony in second to win outright and also the Under 23 class.
Grant Rounds Out Podium With Senior Win
Behind the Dunnes, Eoin Grant took third, finishing one-second behind Anthony, while also grabbing the Senior category win.
Daniel Lappin put in a solid run to top the Under 16 category with the fourth fastest time.
Snatching fifth by two tenths of a second, Brendan Masterson also won the 40+ class.
Mullin Sends It For Women’s Win
Hannah Mullin was best of the Women, with a run quick enough for 26th overall. Bernie Commins took second, but was 10 seconds adrift of the flying teenager.
All-in the inaugural round of the mini DH series proved a roaring success.
The four-round series continues this Sunday October 13 at The Gap where a new course will be laid on for competitors.
