Jacob Dickson and Gareth McKee will headline Team Ireland for the Downhill and Cross-Country World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland this September.
Just two weeks out from the 2018 UCI World Championships, Cycling Ireland have named their team of riders to compete in Switzerland, with five riders contesting the Downhill and three in the Cross-Country.
As Ireland’s leading DH rider on the UCI World Cup, Giant Factory Racing’s Jacob Dickson tops the selection. The two-time National Elite champion will be joined by Jack Crowley and Conor Bate, while Liam Wolfe and Cathal Fitzpatrick will represent Ireland in Juniors.
“Honoured to be the Irish Downhill Team manager for 2018 World Champs n Switzerland” told Team Manager Mark Dickson.
“We have a good strong team this year. Heading them up are Jacob Dickson Jack Crowley Conor Bate for Elites and two Juniors Liam Wolf and Cathal Fitzpatrick — all good strong riders and the way they have been riding lately there is no doubt these guys are up for the job of representing there country in the green Jersey.”
In Cross-Country, National Champion McKee is the only Senior rider making the trip. Finishing 48th in Glasgow’s European Championships earlier this month he’ll look to equal or better that in Switzerland.
McKee is joined by Juniors Lee Harvey and Thomas Creighton, who have both been enjoying a strong season at home and in the British Championships.
The Downhill and Cross-country World Championships will take place in Lenzerheide in Switzerland from 4-9 September 2018.
