The Grassroots Enduro Series is now that latest cycling victim of Coronavirus with the championship opener at The Nagles now cancelled.
Following from developments today (see separate stories), championship organisers were left with no option to cancel this weekend’s opening round in Cork.
The hope is to reschedule the event later in the year where possible.
Anticipating developments we’ve contacted organisers of First Tracks Enduro Cup and the Gravity Enduro Series for updates on their championships.
First Tracks, who begin on April 4/5, have confirmed they are continuously monitoring the situation and have an immediate plan in place to act on if/when needed.
Gravity Enduro have yet to comment.
Grassroots Enduro statement…
Given the most recent developments with regards the Covid-19 virus, the Grassroots Enduro Series Committee, along with MBCC has taken the unfortunate decision to cancel Round 1.
We hate to have to do this, at short notice, given the amount of work that MBCC and all volunteers have put into this. We know that all of you were looking forward to the first enduro race of the season.
We’re sorry to disappoint you but trust that this is the right decision given the circumstances. The health and safety of all of us, our family and friends, and our responsibility towards the larger community has to take priority.
SiEntries will refund your entry fee to the credit/debit card used to make the payment.
Please note that SiEntries makes a charge for processing entries and making refunds. Thus a €30 entry will be refunded approximately €27.50 and a €10 entry fee will be refunded approximately €8.50. The refund should reach your account by Friday 20th March.
Our plan is to reschedule Round 1 for later in the year, if possible.
The Grassroots Enduro Series Committee.
