The hugely popular Coillte Biking Blitz enters its 10th season with six rounds planned across Ireland for 2020.
This year’s Biking Blitz features two new venues with Coolaney in Sligo and Offaly’s Slieve Blooms added to the line up.
What is Biking Blitz
The Biking Blitz is basically a mass start cross-country mountain bike event, aimed primarily at beginners, but with something for everyone to get stuck into.
There are two categories, “Baggy Shorts” for beginners or “Super Pro” for more experienced riders, plus youth categories from U6 to U18 and even a strider category too.
For the Baggy Shorts class the course lengths vary from 14 kilometres at round one to a leg-tightening 22 kilometres at Ticknock, while the Super Pro Category sees their distance almost doubled per round.
Whether you just want to have a bit of craic or win-it-to-win-it, you can be sure of a good day out your bike.
All-Weather MTB Trails
The series uses popular Coillte built mountain bike trail centres, ensuring a fast flowing course in all weather conditions.
Tried and trusted venues of Ballinastoe, Ballyhoura, Derroura and Ticknock mark the first four rounds from early February through to the end of March.
New for all is the edition of Coolaney and Slieve Bloom, which will see the calendar extend into April, finishing up at Slieve Bloom on April 19th.
